If you are looking for dating a Chinese woman, you should get ready to answer her millions of questions. A Chinese woman would often try her best to grill you before deciding if you are worth her time. This is particularly going to be the case if she is the only child of her parents (you can ask her if she has siblings). This is because in China, dating is a serious issue.
Chinese couples would generally date in order to get married and have families. Casual dating and sex is still not very common across the mainland (this mindset is of course changing gradually, especially in the big cities like Beijing and Shanghai). Not to mention, for a foreigner, dating and relationship with a Chinese woman could be quite complicated (you neither know the language nor the culture). Personally, I have seen quite a few common questions asked by most of the Chinese women (married or single).
Let me list down the top 5 questions Chinese women will ask every man (and how to answer them).

#1 How Old Are You?
This is the number 1 question that most of the Chinese girls would ask you. In fact, it’s so common that in the beginning of my China years, I’d often get pissed off. Not anymore!
How do you answer age?
It’s up to you. If you want a genuine relationship, you should be honest with her from the very beginning. However, I still don’t see a point that you have an obligation to share your personal information with someone you barely know.
However, your “age” could be a deal breaker. Really
Generally, IF you don’t want to tell her your real age (read again: IF), here are some of the points worth keeping in mind:
- You can be about 3/4 years senior to her,
- The undergrads (age 18-22) girls generally don’t date men who happened to be more than 4 years older (if she is 20, you can be about 24),
- It’s ok if two of you have the same age (26 and 26),
- Don’t be beyond 28 (even if she is 35 or 40, assuming you are in shape and your answer is convincing),
- Make sure you mark your and her age in WeChat account (there is a “DESCRIPTION” field to write a brief profile for each of your friends), so that you don’t forget your/her age.
In fact, some women won’t tell you her age, but she will ask your age and would insist on it (that’s why you should always give an answer, at list a convincingly right). Here is an example of a gold digger Chinese woman I had picked up at a local supermarket:
#2 What Are You Doing In China?
This is certainly one of the top 5 questions Chinese women will ask every man. In fact, the question can be asked in multiple ways, such as:
- Are you travelling to China?
- Are you working?
- Are you a student?
Keep in mind: you are NEVER unemployed. It’s NEVER cool to be an unemployed dude!
Your answer should always reflect that you have a stable source of income to maintain a good life.
#3 Where Do You Work?
Since you told her you are working (and you are in China), she is more likely to ask this question (where do you work?).
My understanding is that you don’t really have to answer this shit question directly. Because you shouldn’t mix your personal and professional life.
I’d typically say: I work in IT sector, how about you?
Telling her your sector/industry should help save the situation.
Some would still persist and would want to know where my office was.
Then I’d add: I generally work online. Do you have any interest in learning computer?
Depending on the situation, I may also add: Most of my work is done online. Especially, after the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s not really a good idea to go to the office. Do you still have to go to the office?
And the topic would generally change.
Keep in mind, you are not evading the question, rather, you are making sure that you are not screwing up. For example, if you tell her your real office location, it wouldn’t be surprising if she wants to visit your office, and adds your colleagues in WeChat, and does more spying on you.
Not really worth it, especially in the beginning of your relationship, or if you just want to have casual sex. Also, what if you are seeing/dating multiple girls? Would you bring each of them to your office? Lol
#4 How Long You Have Been In China?
This is actually an important question. These women would want to know that how much you know about dating Chinese woman. If you have been in China for a couple of years, obviously you will know a lot more about dating Chinese women.
Moreover, here is something interesting I have noticed more of the Chinese people, men or women: they care MORE about you when you are new to China (as you are perceived a naïve who doesn’t know anything about China), but later on, they gradually give you less fuck as you are expected to manage your affairs gradually. This concept would generally apply to dating/relationship as well.
How do you answer this question?
My standard answer is: 3 months!
This answer ensures that my China age is not old enough to enable me to take care of myself, and I am not totally new either. Especially, if she comes to my bedroom for a bang, and finds one of my Taobao packages, she wouldn’t feel surprised that how I ordered them. She’d know that I’d learn online shopping as I was here for 3 months.
#5 Nationality?
Your nationality counts as well. Your face value (Guan Xi 关系) is very important. White men are most in demand. South Asian and blacks are often (indirectly) discriminated (though I have seen a few positive examples as well).
Even if you are working in China, your race counts, your country of origin may break the deal.
How to answer your nationality?
Again, if you are looking for a genuine relationship, be honest. However, you know life is not fair, there are tons of shit out there…
If you are from South Asia, and you have lived in a rich country, like the USA/US, you don’t need to bring South Asia in the game. Keep your mouth shut. Say you are from the UK or something.
Bonus question: what’s your name (and surname)? : some chicks would want to do more research about you. They may ask your surname as well. Keep an optional English name and surname ready.
What if she asks you to show Passport/ID? Tell her you have just met and as you get along in the relationship, you don’t mind even sharing your bank card number with her. Btw, if a woman is digging you so much, she is likely to have mental problems, such as the old virgins (Lao Chu Nv 老处女), consider moving on.
Btw, do you really need to answer these questions?
Well, again, it depends. My understanding is that if you avoid her questions, she’ll be suspicious. You are going to lose the pussy in all likelihood.
It’s always good to answer the question.
If you just don’t want to share personal information, you’d better plan ahead about how to deal with such grilling situations. At least, try to give convincing answers!
Moreover, your answers are not intended to harm her. At the same time, you have to ensure that you live safely in China. After all, you are not asking her for money, right? You are just not sharing your “too much” of personal information. This is not illegal. Not telling someone your EXACT age is not illegal, especially if the person is largely a stranger to you.
Also, as you get along in the relationship, you should be more open with her. You can’t really have a genuine relationship based on the foundations of false information. However, there are a good number of girls who are not looking for a relationship. You’ll need to test the water and decide yourself.
