It doesn’t matter whether you are looking for a long-term, short-term, ONS, casual dating or what, online bitching is one of your finest bets to ensure lays in China, albeit some issues worth paying attention.

Why would you try online dating?

So many freaking reasons.

Well, how would you meet suitable girls in China? Do you speak Mandarin Chinese? Do you know Chinese culture of finding dates? Usually, in China, it all tend to be a very slow moving process: men and women spend years together before getting into the pants.

Moreover, even if you are able to meet a girl, say by day game, there is no guarantee she’d be single. Even if she’s single, heck, who knows if she is really DTF? You don’t want to waste time..right?

Online dating pros?

So many.

  1. You can be more confident that the girl you are going to meet is single. That’s why she’s on the dating/hooking App.. isn’t it? Not necessarily though.
  2. The dating Apps, like TanTan, lets you know the age of the girl in advance. In case you didn’t know, knowing age of a Chinese woman is a prerequisite to your success with her. Why? Because mindset of a Chinese women tremendously depends a lot on her age.
  3. You can see her profile (plus multiple pics) on the App and be sure how she looks and expects. If someone has just one pic in the profile, make sure to be extra vigilant.
  4. Abundance- you gonna meet so many hot girls in no time…imagine running your typical day game or club game in China without knowing the local language? With online dating/texting, you have the advantage of safely meeting too many asses in practically no time.
  5. Translation tools – as an expat, you can use translation tools to send text messages and communicate with them. It could be difficult to communicate face to face with a China woman unless both of you speak a common language.

Before I get into the “cons” of online dating in China, let’s look at some of the most popular online dating apps in China:

Plenty of fish.

List of Online Dating Apps in China

China Love Cupid

Well, if you are looking for a good relationship (such as finding a Chinese girlfriend, wife aka long lasting relationship), China Love Cupid (Free Sign Up) would be my number 1 recommendation. The dating services are run by Cupid Media (launched in 2000), the Australian online dating technology giant.

Most of the women on China Love Cupid are good in speaking English. I remember one woman from Guangzhou asking me not to game her. 🙂 I was a bit surprised to hear the word “game” from a Chinese woman.

Frankly, China Love Cupid women are more open to the western culture, and certainly more willing to date foreigners. Don’t be surprised if a woman tells you that she had a foreigner boyfriend (this is still a status symbol for the Asian women).

Moreover, the chances of fake profiles on China Love Cupid are low (as some services are offered only to the premium users and hence you have more reasons to trust the premium users).

It’s worth mentioning that some of the women that I met on China Love Cupid are more mature and financially stable. Further, even if you were a man in the 60s, you have a higher chance of finding a relationship on China Love Cupid as a good number of women here are divorced, single mom (and hence less desirable in the local dating market).

As a Lao Wai (Chinese term for a foreigner), you shouldn’t miss China Love Cupid. In fact, I had arranged multiple dates in China much before landing in China.

TanTan

This is probably the number 1 App for hookup/casual sex in China (online dating possibilities cant be ruled out). TanTan is also known as Chinese Tinder as the functionality of both TanTan and Tinder are almost the same. You swipe left and right, and text if there is a match. As simple as that. TanTan offers you about 120 free right-swipes/day. No limits of left-swipes. 🙂 You can buy premium account for RMB 10/month or so. A three-month long premium would cost even lesser. The premium payment is by AliPay or WeChat (no credit card is accepted yet).

TanTan premium account fee.

With a premium account, you get unlimited swipes. You can swipe in any location around the globe. Moreover, a VIP tag is displayed on your profile. TanTan App is also available in English. Couldn’t be a simpler App.

WeChat/Weixin

This is initially used to be a messaging App, and has gradually evolved with additional features, such as timeline, payment processing, location sharing, taxi services. As such, WeChat is not officially a dating App, so there is no premium WeChat account for finding dates. However, I have had bangs with WeChat. How?

Well, WeChat has a nearby function. This allows you to search people in the nearby location (~5KM). You can filter the search result by gender types. Then you are allowed to send greeting to anyone in the search result. The recipient gets your messages and then you communicate. The rest will follow based on the communication. WeChat App is available in English and also has an excellent translation tool. No worries, she can message you in Chinese. Just long press the message and you’ll see the option to translate the message.

Tinder

Tinder is used in China as well, but it’s not that popular. It’s used mainly in combination with VPN, since Facebook is blocked in China. No harm in giving a try though. However, keep in mind that hookups are not that common in China, although it can happen if you play your cards well.

OkCupid

OKC is also available in China, often works without a VPN connection, however, not always. The OKC women are mostly 28+ and looking for fucking serious relationship. Most of them speak English. Your chances of ONS with OKC are low. However, if you are looking for a genuine relationship, the OKC is probably the best App for you. Free. Available in English.

WeChatTanTan online dating is a must try in China for expats.

Momo

This is locally known as ONS App. Once I had set up a date with a woman but she asked me RMB 200 for coming to my bedroom, the scheduled date was cancelled. As I wouldn’t fucking pay for bangs. Shortly, I removed this App from my phone. Momo is not available in English. If you don’t know Chinese, this App is difficult to handle.

QQ

Kind of Facebook. Not really a dating App. But good for making friends, texting, sharing pics on timeline, and expanding your social network in China. Not yet available in English.

Cons of online gaming in China

  1. The biggest shit with online thingy in China is about the dating scams. For example, it’s fair to say that above 70% accounts on TanTan are fake. You have to be extremely careful with them. Anytime, if she asks you money, consider moving on. Further, it’s better to have a video call with before suggesting a date.
  2. Some fake accounts are run by the foreigners (probably male!)- yep! I’ve seen some signs of this nonsense as well, such as very good incoming English text messages.
  3. Full of garbage- a good number of original profiles belong to the women who don’t have any value in the Chinese dating market. The old, divorced, single moms, all fucking losers are trying to find fucking partners through these Apps. They don’t really have real options. Some of them are specifically looking foreign dicks.
  4. Not a place to find good relationship – if you are looking for serious relationship, online dating is not your best bet in China. OKC could be an exception. Let me know if you have tried cupid in China.
  5. Some chicks would come to your bedroom with drinks in their hands, then would try to get you drunk, and steal your stuff once you pass out. This partially happened to me. However, I don’t do alcohol, and the bitch was really irritated. Finally, I had to ask her to go back. I did undress her, however, didn’t fuck—this is common in China. The women here are often naïve. It’s not uncommon that a chick comes on a date, then goes to a guy’s bedroom just to make friends. GOSH
  6. A good number of chicks on the dating Apps are not single. They just want to make friends as they are bored with their regular life. Bitches

Basically, online dating and sex in China is more suitable for people looking for casual stuff. If you only care about fucking, welcome to online dating. If you want to find a good relationship, try OKC, or maybe use your social circle. Day game is good as well.

At the same, take it as a learning. Don’t be too serious. As long as you are willing to learn and work out your shortcomings, you are going to hit success sooner than later.

Judgement?

China Love Cupid for LTR as the women out here are basically looking for meeting foreigners with long-term plans. OKC as well for LTR.

If you are looking only rubbing genitals, go with TanTan or WeChat nearby.

  1. Hey Pete! Nice introduction to the dating world in China. Although it covers the general stuff of dating in China, you only mentioned those of heterosexual dating. I am gay and have an interest specifically in Chinese men. Can you tell me anything about the homosexual world in China, whether online/offline, or have any tips on gay dating and/or ONS? Anything about serious relationship is also appreciated. Thank you in advance!

    1. Been busy for a while, will be posting more about dating in China.

Btw, I am sure there are a good number of LGBT folks in China.

You can use TanTan and specify your preferences. TanTan settings allow men to match with men (and women with women). Similarly, you can use WeChat nearby feature, and filter your preferences (men or women).
      Cheers!
