Busy Working Life: Happy New Year 2021

Updated January 27, 2021

Sup Expats,

Of late, I have been quite busy. Too much of work and personal life stuff going on.

Happy New Year 2021 (the year of ox).
Happy New Year 2021 (the year of ox).

However, one of the main reasons I am too busy is: simply too many meetings in my office. In particular, we used to have a once-a-week long meeting. It was like a 5-6 hours long meeting. I wrote a post a while ago that the Chinese people like meetings:

Now, that long meeting has been split into 3 parts (to improve work efficiency). We have 3 meetings every week: each meeting consumes about 2 to 3 hours. Practically, we spend about one day’s time just for the meetings. No wonder, the performance of my team has not been that great for the last 3 years (not much improvement in efficiency).

Further, every meeting starts with a discussion session (then there are presentations: 85% in English). Discussions are 95% in Chinese. I feel lost during in the discussions. However, still need to attend the meeting from the beginning until the end.

Recently, the internet connection in my office has been slightly unstable. We are trying to fix it.

Then, there are regular life stuff. Dating also consumes a good amount of my time. Some breakups, oneitis.

Of course, there is this crazy winter, and we just don’t feel like working. It’s really difficult to go to work due to this extremely cold winter.

Not much of travelling. Winter + Covid-19 pandemic + history of diabetes = stay at home.

I am planning to start a kids section on this blog (Kids tag). Kids have always been my favorite. I wish to write more about them.

I love kids, I love China.
I love kids, I love China.

Life is generally great. No worries. Despite some minor Covid-19 cases in China, I don’t see any issues in my vicinity. We have been very safe. Going to work per schedule.

I hope to post regularly.

Happy New Year 2021.
